Every enlisted job, what it does, and the minimum ASVAB line score to qualify. Pick a branch, then search by job title or code.
This lists the Army's enlisted jobs — called Military Occupational Specialties (MOS)— grouped by Career Management Field. Each row shows the job, its code (for example, 11B = Infantryman), a short description, and the minimum ASVAB line score to qualify.
How to read the line scores. The Army combines ASVAB subtests into 10 “line scores.” A job lists the minimum it needs. The codes: GT General Technical, CL Clerical, CO Combat, EL Electronics, FA Field Artillery, GM General Maintenance, MM Mechanical Maintenance, OF Operators & Food, SC Surveillance & Communications, ST Skilled Technical. “&” means both are required; “or” means either path qualifies.
Two notes. Which jobs your son can actually pick also depends on current Army needs, medical screening, and security clearance — a recruiter shows the live list of what's open the day he signs. Officer roles aren't here: those generally require a four-year degree, a different path from the enlisted route tied to the ASVAB.

Source & currency: Job titles, codes, and line scores reflect the Army's current MOS catalog (2026). Minimum scores and job availability change with Army needs and policy — always confirm the live numbers with a recruiter or at goarmy.com.
This lists the Navy's enlisted jobs — called ratings. Each rating has a letter code (for example, HM = Hospital Corpsman), a short description, and the minimum ASVAB composite score to qualify.
Browse every current rating and filter by your scores: navy.com careers
How to read the composites. Unlike the Army, the Navy adds specific ASVAB subtests together and a rating needs the sum to clear a minimum. Subtests: VE Verbal, AR Arithmetic Reasoning, MK Math Knowledge, GS General Science, MC Mechanical, AS Auto & Shop, EI Electronics, AO Assembling Objects, PC Paragraph Comprehension. Many ratings list a second “or” combination; the simplest qualifying path is shown.
Two notes. Your dad served as an Aviation Ordnanceman (AO) — that rating is in the Aviation group below. Which ratings are actually open depends on current Navy needs, medical screening, and clearance; a recruiter shows the live list. Officer roles aren't here — those generally require a degree.

This lists the Air Force's enlisted jobs — called Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSC). Each has a code (for example, 1N0X1 = Intelligence Analyst), a short description, and the minimum ASVAB aptitude score to qualify.
How to read the scores. The Air Force sorts ASVAB results into four aptitude areas, “MAGE.” A job lists the minimum it needs in one or more: M Mechanical, A Administrative, G General, E Electronics. So “G64” means a General score of 64; “M60 & G64” means both are required; “or” means either path qualifies.
Two notes. Which jobs are actually open depends on current Air Force needs, medical screening, and clearance — a recruiter shows the live list. Officer roles aren't here; those generally require a four-year degree, a different path from the enlisted route tied to the ASVAB.

This lists the Marine Corps' enlisted jobs — called Military Occupational Specialties (MOS), each a four-digit code grouped by Occupational Field. Each row shows the job, its code (for example, 0311 = Rifleman), a short description, and the minimum ASVAB line score to qualify.
How to read the line scores. The Marine Corps combines ASVAB subtests into line scores. A job lists the minimum it needs. The codes: GT General Technical, CL Clerical, EL Electronics, MM Mechanical Maintenance, ST Skilled Technical. “&” means both are required; “or” means either path qualifies.
Two notes. The Marines pride themselves on “every Marine a rifleman” — all Marines train as basic riflemen first, then move to their MOS. Which jobs are open depends on current needs, medical screening, and clearance; a recruiter shows the live list. Officer roles aren't here — those generally require a degree.

This lists the Coast Guard's enlisted jobs — called ratings. Each has a letter code (for example, AST = Rescue Swimmer), a short description, and the minimum ASVAB score to qualify.
A note on the scores. The Coast Guard is the smallest and most selective branch, so meeting the minimum rarely guarantees a slot — higher scores matter. It qualifies ratings using combined ASVAB subtest scores (shown here as a minimum composite); the exact subtests vary by rating, and some require a minimum on a specific subtest (e.g. AR Arithmetic Reasoning, VE Verbal, MK Math Knowledge). A recruiter confirms the exact requirement.
Two notes. A few ratings (Intelligence Specialist, Investigator) are usually reached after serving rather than picked at enlistment, so scores are set case by case. Which jobs are open also depends on current needs, medical screening, and clearance. Officer roles aren't here — those generally require a degree.

This lists the Space Force's enlisted jobs. Enlisted members are called Guardians (and hold the rank of Specialist at entry). Because the Space Force grew out of the Air Force, it still uses Air Force–style codes and the same MAGE aptitude scoring.
Read this first. The Space Force is the newest and smallest branch (~10,000 Guardians) and enlists into a small, highly technical set of specialties — mainly space operations, intelligence, and cyber. It is still standardizing its own Space Force Specialty Codes, so the Air Force–style codes below may be renumbered; a recruiter has the current list. Scores use MAGE: M Mechanical, A Administrative, G General, E Electronics. Space Systems Operations also requires a higher overall AFQT (around 65) for non-graduates.
One note. Most Space Force support work (medical, security, logistics, admin) is still handled by Air Force Guardians or shared services, so the enlisted Guardian specialties focus on the technical core below. Officer roles aren't here — those generally require a four-year degree.

Source & currency: The Space Force enlisted force structure is new and evolving; codes and scores reflect the Air Force–derived specialties in use as of 2026 and are being replaced by dedicated Space Force Specialty Codes. Always confirm the current Guardian specialties and requirements with a recruiter or at spaceforce.com.
Important: These lists and minimum scores are study references compiled for prep — the services change standards with their needs and weigh medical, clearance, and openings on top of the ASVAB. Always confirm the live numbers with an official recruiter.
